The Australian Performing Arts Exchange (APAX) is the largest and most significant annual gathering of presenters, producers and artists coming together to connect, network, learn and discover leading works available for touring and collaboration.
In 2022, APAX was hosted at NIDA, Sydney from Monday 5 to Friday 9 September. The program featured engaging sessions designed to reconnect and energise the performing arts sector in Australia.
The closing event, The State of the Arts address is a key moment in the program and in 2022 it was delivered by arts leader, writer, literary curator and producer of theatre and film – Jo Dyer. Having held leadership roles with Sydney Writers’ Festival, Sydney Theatre Company, and Bangarra Dance Theatre alongside her advocacy for the arts (and contemporary Australia at large) in the recent federal election, Jo Dyer delivered perspectives and provocations on the Australian performing arts landscape.
