International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA)

Perth 2024 ISPA Congress Registrations are now open

The International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA) mid-year Congress will be hosted by PAC Australia in Perth from 30 April to 3 May 2024. The event will spotlight Australian performance work and artists and share the unique culture of Perth and Australia on the international stage.

The ISPA Congress is held twice a year, with one congress in New York and a second in a selected location across the globe. The congresses bring together over 500 leaders from more than 50 regions globally each year to discover the next great idea, and strengthen relationships, fostering connection and exchange. Delegates are presenters, festivals, producing companies, artist managers, consultants, government and cultural leaders.  The congress programming is geared towards both established and emerging leaders in different genres and disciplines within the performing arts.

Opportunities – how to get involved

There are a number of opportunities for Australian artists, producers and performance-makers to engage with and present at the Perth 2024 ISPA Congress.

Make sure you’re subscribed to the PAC Australia e-newsletter to be the first to hear any updates and application callouts related to these opportunities.

Pitch New Works

Pitch New Works is an internationally competitive marketplace opportunity with ten spots available to pitch to the global delegation.

Perth 2024 ISPA Congress Pitch New Works applications will open in mid-January 2024 and close in mid-February. This process is run directly by ISPA—visit ISPA’s Pitch New Works page for more information. Please note the timeline currently on this page is relevant to the New York 2024 ISPA Congress.

Performance Program

The Perth 2024 ISPA Congress features a brilliant program of Australian productions, from dance to theatre, from the intimate to the epic. Full details will be released early in 2024.

WA Showcases

Specifically for Western Australia-based artists, producers or makers, the WA Showcases are a small number of special slots in our program for you to present an excerpt of your work, 10-30 minutes in duration.

EOIs are now open and close 11.59pm AWST on 31 January, 2024.

You can view and complete the EOI form here.

ProEx – Professional Exchange

ProEx is an informal networking session and marketplace open to anyone. It immediately follows the Pitch New Works sessions and features participants from the program as well as participants joining ProEx independently.

ProEx is a free optional extra offered as part of your Perth ISPA Congress registration form. Places are limited so we recommend registering for the Perth ISPA Congress and securing your ProEx table early. Registrations will open in mid-February 2024.

Advance Program – Anthony Field Academy

An intensive arts administration program dedicated to developing the next generation of bold and bright minds, the Anthony Field Academy (AFA) invites open-access EOIs from local emerging leaders to attend an intimate two-day intensive at The Blue Room Theatre.

Western Australian participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from the international AFA cohort and other guest facilitators. Visit the ISPA website for more information on the Anthony Field Academy and stay tuned for updates on EOIs and program details.

Advance Program – Advisory Board for the Arts session – Driving Attendance

PAC Australia’s new partnership with the Advisory Board for the Arts will deliver the findings of the first of two major projects, Driving Attendance, at a symposium immediately prior to the Perth 2024 ISPA Congress. The symposium will be delivered on Tuesday, 30 April and registrations to attend will open in February.

Driving Attendance is a new marketing survey exploring the factors that are actually leading to higher ticket sales; it will help you understand the marketing behaviours and tactics most likely to drive greater sales from both new and existing audiences.
