PAC Australia’s biennial benchmarking survey is the most comprehensive data collection of its kind for performing arts venues across Australia.

This in-depth survey captures detailed operational, financial and activity data from venues nationwide. By providing high-quality data from across the Australian performing arts network, the resulting reports support informed decision-making and help you use the information to build strong business cases for growth and change.

The benchmarking survey has been conducted since 2003 and collects key data on venue operations, employment conditions, and economic activity. The information is available in two reports:

• Economic Activity Report – Measures the scale of operations and economic activity of performing arts centres nationally. The data assists in the management of arts centres and supports planning for new performance spaces and programs.

• Venue Charges and Salaries Report (member only resource) – Provides comprehensive industry information as a tool for performing arts centres to review the salaries and charges associated with arts centre operations and to benchmark against others nationally.

To streamline data collection, we collaborate with state presenter associations VAPAC, Stage Queensland, NAPACA, SAPA, and CircuitWest, ensuring the survey captures essential industry-wide insights for both state and national advocacy to all levels of Government.
